DUMMY WEDDING CAKES
We’ve spent years making wedding cakes, and know the pressure that comes along with purchasing an expensive cake. That’s why a dummy wedding cake (also described as a ‘fake’ wedding cake) is fast becoming a popular choice amongst couples.
What’s the difference between standard and dummy wedding cakes?
The only difference between a standard and a dummy wedding cake is the filling on the inside. We use a mix of polystyrene and plain sponge so you can still cut through it for the photo.
Your cake will be decorated the exact same way as a standard cake, so your guests will be none the wiser. The only people who will be able to tell the difference are the chefs in the kitchen cutting or plating it up.
Is there a price difference?
If your dummy wedding cake is similar to the amount of actual cake you order on the side, the difference in price is minimal. Costs may vary slightly less or more depending on the decoration style of the cake.
What flavours can I choose from?
Our Chocolate Mud Cake and Torta Di Arancia are the only cakes strong enough to be built into both barrel and tiered cakes.
If you are wanting any other flavour, then choosing a dummy cake with a side slab is the way to go. Additional to Chocolate Mud Cake and Torta di Arancia you can also choose from:
- Black Forest
- Brunetti Rocher
- Chocolate Fondant
- Chocolate Mousse
- Chocolate Souffle
- Con Amore
- Cookies & Cream Cheesecake
- Julio Cesare
- Le Parisien
- New York Cheesecake
- Pear & Cheese Crumble
- Pistacchio Opera
- Nutella & Ricotta Cheesecake
- San Remo
- Sotto Bosco
What are the benefits of a ‘fake’ wedding cake?
Ordering a dummy wedding cake allows you to choose from a wider variety of flavours. You’ll be able to order the perfect amount of cake for your guests and cut them into perfectly neat slices. Tiered round cakes are often roughly cut into mismatched portion sizes leaving wasted cut leftovers at the reception.
Another benefit of ordering a ‘fake’ cake is the decreased risk and stress of something going wrong on the day. We’ve been supplying wedding cakes for many years, and in that time our drivers have always been able to deliver them in perfect condition. We have however heard of cakes being damaged on the journey, and our talented chefs have come to the rescue to fix them on-site or make last-minute emergency cakes.
Still prefer a standard wedding cake?
If you’d still prefer to have a standard wedding cake, you can order online from our range of wedding cakes. Otherwise, contact us below and include a photo so we can quote you on a cake filled with either Torta di Arancia or Chocolate Mud Cake.
Wanting cake toppers?
We have customised acrylic cake toppers available. If you’d like to have these on your display cake, please mention this when you contact us. Remember to send us a photo of the design that you would like.
